Action Research in Coaching and Mentoring

Part 4

Action Research in Coaching and Mentoring

Part four involved understanding the need for Action Research (AR) as a tool for learning. We realised that, as a leader, we will need the tools of action research to identify a problem, collect data to find the probable cause of the problem and suggest changes to improve the conditions.

The Action Research Spiral

As part of the action research (AR) module, we first looked at the difference between a regular research model and an action research model.

Once the differences were identified, we looked at some examples of an AR to deepen our understanding. Some key features of an AR were also identified and laid out for clarity.

As an educator first, I identified some possible topics that could qualify as an AR. This also helped me understand the scope and possibilities of writing an action research paper.
